This is hardly the first character swap mod fans have seen, as this particular type of mod has proven to be hugely popular in video games. For instance, God of War has been getting a number of character swap mods since it came to PC, with everyone from The Simpsons cast to Pirates of The Caribbean’s Jack Sparrow becoming playable within the game. Clearly, Sekiro is not safe from these mods either, though Geralt does fit quite well into Wolf’s shoes.

An expert with a sword just like Sekiro protagonist Wolf, seeing Geralt deflect enemy strikes and deliver quick hits of his own is not too shocking. However, seeing him clash with Genichiro on top of Ashina Castle is a bit more memorable, with the mod perfectly capturing the Butcher of Blaviken’s attire from the Hearts of Stone DLC. Outside the white shirt and tied back hair, this Geralt fights exactly like Wolf does, performing counters and striking just as fast as Sekiro’s actual protagonist.
Alongside a joke that this is what The Witcher 4 will look like, Atyn_Rener, the Redditor that shared the footage, made sure to make it even more entertaining by adding some Witcher music to the battle. With the post shared directly to the official Witcher 3 subreddit, it is no surprise that many enjoyed it, with the post in question bringing in 2,000 upvotes and some entertaining comments. Some viewers suggested that Geralt should have asked Genichiro to play Gwent, while others pointed out that the Prosthetic Tool is essentially a stand-in for Geralt’s Signs.
While the title was clearly meant as a joke, the Geralt mod from Eyedeability did inspire The Witcher fans to ask for a Sekiro feature in the next game. Specifically, Reddit user Ieferi suggested the option to set Geralt’s swords on fire using the Igni Sign, letting them wield a flaming weapon like in Sekiro. As pointed out by Aytn_Rener, who showed off the mod, a huge part of The Witcher’s gameplay loop is centered around creating special Oil to use in combat. As such, being able to make sword Oil that can be lit up with Igni seems viable.
Regardless, the clip is an excellent example of how dedicated the Sekiro modding community is. From co-op and area updates to special character models like Geralt, there is plenty of fun to be had with the PC version of Sekiro.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
