The company’s UK and Twitter account tweeted the below video with the caption ‘Making Progress’, along with the date 03.03.2020 – 3 March in both UK and US date formats.

To us, it looks more like a machine that makes the mystery product rather than the product itself, and it doesn’t give away much.

In a previous tweet, OnePlus said whatever they are showing off is “not a phone/commercial product”, and the images tweeted in addition to the video look like machinery or an engine of some kind. There is speculation the announcement might be related to OnePlus’ ongoing partnership with the car manufacturer and F1 team McLaren.

OnePlus’ Twitter followers have suggested such sensible theories like a smartwatch or a 3D printer, and some not so sensible ones like a time machine. Whatever it is, OnePlus has a bumpy track record for this sort of thing, so we’ll have to wait and see what the announcement is tomorrow.

Whatever it is, it won’t be the OnePlus 8 or 8 Pro, devices that we expect more around April or May time if the company’s usual schedule is anything to go by.
